- carlosjobim 2y agoThere's a few exceptions. HN like you pointed out, which I consider an absolute dog usability wise. For HN i use custom stylesheets. But the linked article opens fine in reader view for me. You can also force reader view for any site in desktop Safari with CMD+Shift+R
- CRConrad 2y ago> There's a few exceptions. No, there's not “a few exceptions”. It's really rather common for aites not to display in Reader Mode at all; far too common to be called “exceptions”, and nowhere near “a few”.
- carlosjobim 2y agoNo need for anger. The vast majority of websites that you stumble upon are articles, and they open fine in reader view or in forced reader view. Where it reliably doesn't work is web application type sites, which is a given. So reader view solves the problem in most of the cases, and in the cases where it doesn't solve the problem it doesn't make anything worse either.
- CRConrad 2y agoNot particlularly angry (at you, not at all; at web sites, a little), just a very different experience than yours: Many articles I come across refuse to display in reader view. What's "forced reader view"? If I could force it (and get a readable result every time), there'd be no reason to be even a little angry.
- carlosjobim 2y agoPress CMD+Shit+R to force reader view, it usually works if it's an article. On iPhone I think you can force reader view by long pressing the reader button on the side of the URL bar.
- CRConrad 2y agoYeah, sorry, I don't live in the Apple universe. Thanks anyway!
