- cratermoon 2y agoNOT A DUPE. A NEWS STORY as opposed to a press release.
- defrost 2y agoFrom the "News Story" ... * the blog said, * The blog discussed * The blog called for * the blog said. * its blog said. * Mastodon's blog said. is there anything there not sourced from the Mastodon Press Release, aside from side fluff about Zuckerberg ?
- cratermoon 2y agoAh yes, no wonder media literacy is so low. People think that a PR blog post from the source is just as a good as an article providing context and background.
- defrost 2y agoIn this instance the person with low media literacy would be the one that prefers a reframing of a raw PR over the source PR release. Nothing of value has been added, the "article" simply perpetuates an illusion of journalism when merely rewording content handed out for the lazy to copy and the somewhat less lazy to shuffle about. If you're interested in media litracy you might want to watch future and past episodes of Media Watch or equivilants from other countries. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_Watch_(TV_program) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_Watch_(TV_program) Three decades of Media Watch has upped my media literacy game.
