Musk to PG: Don’t be a retard who believes bogus polls
- grajaganDev 2y agoPG responds that he was thinking mainly of conversations with ordinary people not polls. Then Musk goes unhinged.
- lysace 2y agoThe actual quote: > Don’t be a retard who believes bogus polls Why did you alter it in the title of this post? The original phrasing fits in the HN title limit.
- androthrowaway 2y agomistake. @dang pls fix
- jsheard 2y agoYou should be able to edit your own title for a few hours after posting. Unless that's disabled for new accounts?
- androthrowaway 2y agomy anti-procrastination settings prevent me. This is OP.
- GuestFAUniverse 2y agoAnswer: "Don't be a retard who fakes playing games."
- pmdulaney 2y agoSo who is PG?

- kkaatii 2y agoI think when one experiences enough odds in their favor, they begin to disregard indications of prior probabilities that aren't in their favor.

- DemocracyFTW2 2y agoThis is priceless: > Paul Graham @paulg·22h > I was thinking mainly of conversations I've had with ordinary > people. I don't think you realize the size of the gap between how > your tweets about the UK seem to people in Texas and how they seem > to people in the UK. > Elon Musk @elonmusk·10h > Oh please. You live in an aristocratic country house in the English > countryside. > Your kids go to an elite private day school and you sit at home all > day on the Internet. > Mr. Paul Graham hasn’t run into an ordinary person in years. Elon is as always projecting and only talking about himself.
- grajaganDev 2y agoPG is earnestly trying to help Elon and this is the response.
- DemocracyFTW2 2y agoHow can you gift the man who has everything? How can you help the man who knows everything? We're mere mortals and can only bow our heads in the presence of our Overlord.
- toomuchtodo 2y agoI imagine the approach is some analogy of how you continue to love your adult child who suffers from a severe addiction and needs help, but is going to cause a lot of harm along the way to either recovery or self inflicted death. Try to improve outcomes when opportunities present themselves, but also protect yourself.
- rsynnott 2y agoWow, obviously hit a nerve. I do get the impression that he wants desperately to be liked, but is just, well, really really good at giving people reasons to dislike him.
- keernan 2y agoMany Musk related posts get flagged. Being the wealthiest guy on earth who constantly puts himself on public display, I would imagine he pays an army of people to protect his perception of himself. I wonder: is this an example?
- dang 2y agoI doubt it. Users who flagged this post also flagged these, for example: Bomba Patch Download 2025 – Free Download Latest Version – Brazilian Soccer Game - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42727946 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42727946 Show HN: The only way to build a lean SaaS today - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42708872 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42708872 MrBeast Might Buy TikTok - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42701057 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42701057 To me it looks like normal flagging behavior.
- andromaton 2y agoI still think this link is hn relevant. We sometimes paint ourselves too narrowly.
