"sites are merely required to signal some kind of rating or content information"
How does that get enforced?
- Terr_ 2y ago> How does that get enforced It gets enforced a hell of a lot more consistently, easily, and cheaply than the other proposal of forcing the same sites to all validate the legal ages (or worse, identities) of every visitor, is how. :p
- f30e3dfed1c9 2y agoDoesn't answer the question. Note that I'm not advocating for any method or scheme, or even granting that anything needs to be done at all, just asking a simple question: how is your scheme enforced? Say that a state passes a law mandating your scheme. How does it get enforced?
- Terr_ 2y agoPresumably the same awkward way they plan to enforce this one: The state Attorney General finds a site not-following requirement X, and charges them in court. (Or, possibly leans on local ISPs to block it, although that leads to even more first-amendment issues.)
