It can be assumed that Microsoft in first place maintains Github for the hidden purpose of harvesting product ideas from the free work of dozens of thousands of software engineers not on their payroll. And most open source and free software developers are naive enough to use that platform to unknowingly feed that purpose. There is no free lunch.
