Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters – Paul Schrader's Generally Unseen Masterpiece
- LordJim 2y agoTotally agree, excellent film. Though I think the author exaggerates a bit how obscure Mishima is outside of Japan. In particular Mishima has seen a recent renaissance among the online right. Other good Schrader films (though in very different veins than Mishima) include Light Sleeper and his more recent The Card Counter.
- indigodaddy 2y agoLight Sleeper is such a great movie. Has a tone and feeling that I have looked for in many other movies but haven’t found. Closest I’ve found is maybe Mann’s Thief?
- LordJim 2y agoYeah, Thief is another great movie.
