There is a psychology paper waiting to be written about humans perceiving intellect as the ability to communicate knowledge convincingly and thus being amazed by LLMs. I’m by no means immune to it
- ixtli 2y agoIts been a long time since i've been amazed by an HN comment in a positive way. This is a really, really good way of putting it. I'd go further: humans are willing to forgive shockingly grievous intellectual crimes (c.f.: hallucination, dangerous reasoning errors, etc.) if they are clearly communicated in the way you describe.
