Others are cheap pitches of a minor hack from somebody trying to make a buck; they are predictable, thus boring, but hard to avoid, just like noise in a city. In my opinion the quality of HN comments and votes has been losing steam over the last few years especially since a large chunk of reddit migrated here a couple years ago; the commentary used to be more insightful than the articles themselves on many topics, now the commentary is also noisy and often boring (thankfully, it still contains many hidden gems).
