I am 100% positive it would be awesome for someone who used it all the time but I, personally, cannot talk[2] and translate into computere-ese at the same time. Trying to use ViaVoice in college drove me crazy because of trying to activate those two separate mental pathways simultaneously, so I ended up just switching to Dvorak which along with other ergo modifications fixed my hand pain
It seems to be $250 + s/h https://www.charachorder.com/collections/store/products/cc2 https://www.charachorder.com/collections/store/products/cc2 or CC-BY-SA-CR https://github.com/CharaChorder/CAD-CAM/blob/1f833ca40b5dcc1fae978f4d6ec0ef12590035d9/LICENSE.md https://github.com/CharaChorder/CAD-CAM/blob/1f833ca40b5dcc1...
ed I also found a review of it from a vim user https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxCm86IbLok https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxCm86IbLok and holy shit this has 100% been my experience with almost every Discord support experience https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxCm86IbLok&t=680 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxCm86IbLok&t=680 Plus, only by making it all the way to the end of the video did I realize that only the *CAD* files are open source, the firmware is closed source and, apparently, ragingly shitty. Hard pass.
1: my first contact was with Twiddler
2: in this specific context, "talk" includes the subvocalization that I just seemingly cannot get rid of. Even typing this out I am essentially just writing what the voice in my head is saying :(
- evanjrowley 2y agoThe Harite keyboards are another example you may like that feature 5-way switches. https://github.com/dlip/harite https://github.com/dlip/harite https://github.com/dlip/harite-v2 https://github.com/dlip/harite-v2
- mdaniel 2y agoThanks for bringing that up! I like that it appears to have a more sane license, too But, I'll be honest: from just the YouTube video it seems like those strong magnets make this much closer to what I'd want from a portable keyboard. I have very, very grave concerns about where I'd put my phone to keep it away from the magnets, but otherwise it seems right up my alley
- evanjrowley 2y agoGood point. Fortunately, the same magnets can screw into the back of the Harite v2. If you search for "1/4" mount magsafe" you'll find a lot of examples that are relatively low cost. Here's someone using the same mounts, just not with the 5-way directional switch: https://www.reddit.com/r/ErgoMechKeyboards/comments/12dr3pb/magsafe_pocket_mount_with_corneish_zen/0 https://www.reddit.com/r/ErgoMechKeyboards/comments/12dr3pb/...
