Traits that may cease to be valuable
- crackalamoo 2y ago> Today it might be valuable to be 6/10 at a bunch of things. But if AI tools can be 6/10 at those things too, it’ll become more valuable to be 10/10 at one or two things. This is true, but I don't think it makes being a generalist unnecessary. The point of being a generalist is not to be 6/10 in a bunch of things individually, but to be 10/10 in some unique combination of those things. Think early Apple: maybe a 9/10 in tech and art individually, but a 10/10 combined. > Having a lot of memorized knowledge Similar idea. AI or even Google has a lot of memorized knowledge, more than any human could hope for, but having memorized knowledge as a human allows synthesizing it to come up with new ideas and respond to situations. This is how doctors treat patients, or how historians develop theories on society. Overall very interesting list, and I largely agree.
