John Singer Sargent's "Fumee d'ambre gris"
- amarcheschi 2y agoI found this image on an article about perfumes https://www.fragrantica.com/news/Perfume-Enthusiast-Reads-Proust-Aristocracy-vs-Bourgeoisie-20690.html https://www.fragrantica.com/news/Perfume-Enthusiast-Reads-Pr... (I suggest checking it out for other nice paintings as well) I don't know why but the low contrast, the off white tones and the woman minding her own business are very nice to watch. I feel like I could look at it for hours. It's a similar reaction to when I first saw portrait of Gertrude Loew irl in new York. That painting had a lot of white, too.
