- cebert 2y agoI worked at a few firms that partnered with United Way and strongly encouraged employees to donate. That seemingly gave these firms a marketing opportunity to show how much they and their employees gave to charity. I am a proponent of giving to charities and causes. I’m not a proponent of doing so to give my employer free PR with my personal money. The United Way has added overhead, and I’d rather give directly to causes I care about.
