Good move on Apple's part. They are hugely dependent on the PRC. This makes them vulnerable to collapse if relations between the US and the PRC deteriorate. Given the PRC's stated intention to invade Formosa about 2027, the US and others likely will reply with sanctions and a trade war. Things could get very dicey.
- 7e 2y agoApple may depend on the PRC, but this move doesn’t lessen that; Apple has never sourced chips like these from mainland China. They do import a lot of other things that this factory doesn’t make. I think you mean they are dependent on Taiwan for processors. This does help with that.
