I Built a Movie Streaming Site in 2 Days
So here’s the deal: I was tired of juggling Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and all these other subscriptions—just to watch a few movies and shows. I thought, "What if I could just build my own streaming site?" Something simple, easy to use, and without the subscription fees.
In just two days, I ended up with a site that pulls actual movie streams from multiple platforms. Using vidsrc.dev API, the site gives you access to real, working movie streams (no fake links here). I also use TMDB for movie data, so you get all the juicy details like synopses, ratings, trailers, and more.
And the best part? No ads. Just pure movie streaming goodness—no interruptions, no pop-ups, no annoyances. Just pick a movie and hit play.
The project wasn’t exactly smooth sailing—especially getting everything to work across devices and building a responsive UI in such a short time. But somehow, I made it happen. It’s definitely not perfect (looking at you, sketchy code), but it does the job.
Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think! Here’s the link: https://lensloria.netlify.app/
If you’re a developer and want to see the questionable code behind it, here’s the GitHub link: https://github.com/Debronejacobs/React-Based-Web-App-for-Streaming-Movies-and-TV-Shows
- CharlieChap 2y agowow this is really cool
- oriettaxx 2y agooh, really cool! but I just see "failed to verify your humanity" on every movie I've tried I may help with the docker-compose version, but some more info would be appreciated: the super basic: how is the copyright issue? then: what about server load? is the load all in my browser?
- Debrone 2y agoIts just consuming two API's one being TMDB for movie data and https://vidsrc.dev/ https://vidsrc.dev/ the website has no backend whatsoever , I did this project just for the fun of it am not looking to profit from it
- oriettaxx 2y ago> I did this project just for the fun of it am not looking to profit from it yes, I'm just curious, 'cause I see a lot of streaming website and did not understand how it can work technically since streaming takes a lot of efforts So, you are using TMDB to get movie data (like years, rates, actors.... I guess) While the streaming "engine" is https://vidsrc.dev https://vidsrc.dev I see: very good: do you know any other website like this one?
