This is Apple being smart and hedging their bets. They are dedicating “AI” hardware to their current devices, and are building a framework for many different futures. In regards to software, they are first building the safety, then MVP’s to provide APIs to their chips. So yah, maybe they aren’t holding the holy grail at the moment. At least we won’t be drinking from lead goblets .
