- dinkumthinkum 2y agoWell, I know HN is pedantic but the issue is why would so many people be trying to flee to the U.S. if it is worse than some "backwater". It makes no sense. I would assert that in extremely impoverished Southeast Asian countries, immigration is not a central concern.
