This article makes great points, but the outcome seems to be “in progress” and not final. They have the tech stack and the right philosophy, they just botched the execution out of the gate. This is the same company that didn’t think 3rd party apps on the iPhone would be a thing. They managed to course correct.
- lallysingh 2y agoRef: both apps and Apple Maps.
- gordon_freeman 2y agoApple Maps is still not good compared to Google Maps. If I want to go somewhere for the first time I can't trust to use Apple Maps. (tried a lot, always come back to Google)
- HnUser12 2y agoDepends on the place I'd think. I almost exclusively use Apple Maps except for when I need data about a business. On the other hand Google has also sent me to wrong places a few times, sent me to a closed road etc.
- bentt 2y agoI'm even between these two, and I used to be very in favor of Google. At this point, Google has not improved a single product in the last 5 years.
