I don’t understand how AI is supposed to be a mind reader… most of any CV is supposed to be examples of how you excelled in each position, to demonstrate your worth. Or am I supposed to come up with 10 pages of this for each prior position, so the AI can pick and choose?

You only need to provide your core resume, and the AI refines it by selecting and emphasizing the experiences and keywords that align best with the role. There is an assumption that the core resume does have valid experiences, using this we can create a tailored and targeted resume for any job listing.
