which do reveal certain patterns
Perceived patterns. If an actual pattern was known, you could generate prime numbers from the pattern. No such pattern is known to exist.
- palmtree3000 14y agoIt's probabilistic, but there are patterns (lines with significantly greater prime densities than others).
- monochromatic 14y agoThere are TONS of patterns in the primes.
- Confusion 14y agoName me a pattern that, from the primes below 100, can be used to extrapolate, with certainty, the first prime above 100.
- monochromatic 14y agoThat's an awfully restrictive definition of "pattern." For what it's worth, I'd say that more mathematics has been devoted to the study of patterns in the primes than to any other single topic.
