What makes you think he isn’t just messing with people here? He has said before that he’s an alien or that he’ll guard Taylor Swift’s cats with his life. Why should this one be different?

    It’s not like Musk builds rockets. He pays for it but that’s it. He also spent $44bn on an American president. He’s clearly intelligent but is he a genius?

      He does far more than write checks and even if that was truly all he did the fact that he put his personal wealth into both Tesla and then SpaceX when there was no reasonable expectation for success is on its own highly commendable. Nobody built rockets the way SpaceX does, and SpaceX - full-stop - would not exist without his involvement. I find his personality and views largely repugnant, but denigrating his accomplishments is beyond the pale. Obnoxious tweets and incendiary messaging does not mean we ought not appreciate his impact.

        I care about a well functioning democracy that serves the populace infinitely more than I care about tesla or spacex. His accomplishments mean nothing relative to his active destruction of a just and functional society for regular people. The ends do not justify his means. And that's to say nothing of how completely insufferable musk and his apologists are.

But they do and I think even he doesn’t realise what the consequences of his actions may be. It’s one thing him controlling the president of the US, it’s another thing him trying to have impact half a world away. Does he really think that nazis from ex-DDR will be buying teslas when AfD comes to power? What’s his angle? Ego because the son became a daughter and he blames it on woke culture? The man is risking destabilising the world for who knows what reasons. Most Germans loved Hitler, remember that. I absolutely don’t care about SpaceX, neither Tesla. Shrug, don’t care.

    Musk isn't too hands on at spacex anymore, he quit seeking high level clearance a while back over the drug stuff and mostly started playing the new diablo instead (ranked top 4 in the world) and tweeting many hours a day.
