I saw a HN comment the other day that is still giving me pause. Maybe it's very obvious, but it got me thinking. It was something like: we are pulled forward by individuals, individuals who through some period of time "unlock" new information via interactions over period of time though the methods you mentioned, primarily by interacting with others who hold net new data to them, and adding it into this unique data set in their head, that causes some stuff to "click" and something "new" is born. When I read that I thought, yeah, that's basically how it works and now that you put it like that, it doesn't seem very special at all.
