U-Haul Growth Metros and Cities of 2024: Dallas Top Metro for In-Migration
- andsoitis 2y agoInstead of only the list in the article (below), I would like to see a few different rankings based on different age demographics. 1. Dallas, TX 2. Charlotte, NC 3. Phoenix, AZ 4. Lakeland, FL 5. Austin, TX 6. Nashville, TN 7. Raleigh, NC 8. Palm Bay, FL 9. Houston, TX 10. Greenville, SC
- ipnon 2y agoThe oxidation of the Rust Belt continues apace.
- damentz 2y agoThe list is for 25, not 10. Using just 10 over represents the top 10 out of 25.
- relaxing 2y ago11. Jacksonville, FL 12. Tampa, FL 13. Charleston, SC 14. Wilmington, NC 15. Sarasota, FL 16. Fort Myers, FL 17. Boise, ID 18. Richmond, VA 19. Bend, OR 20. Indianapolis, IN 21. Brownsville & McAllen, TX 22. Tyler, TX 23. Daytona Beach, FL 24. Spokane, WA 25. Springdale, AR
- e40 2y agoThe traffic in Charlotte is insane. Even far outside the city. My dad lives there and over the decades I’ve watched trips that used to take 15-30 minutes take hours. The problem: no planning before development. They are cutting down forests and putting up housing like mad. Yes, there is constant road construction, but it’s too little too late. Are the other destinations suffering like this?
- rawgabbit 2y agoFor Texas, the entire state is one big traffic jam. It’s not just the DFW metro area. To go from Frisco to Houston for example, the direct route is to go through downtown Dallas and then interstate 45 to Houston. Instead I take this crazy route of driving south to Dallas, west to Arlington, south to Midlothian where they are building Google data centers, south to Waco, east to College Station, and then to Houston. All this extra driving actually saves me time.
- dylan604 2y agoMaybe that explains why I've had no issues getting a U-haul same day as all of the one-way moves have landed in my town according to the list.
- Hilift 2y agoIs Dallas and Phoenix the Shangri-La for U-Haul customers or everyone? Data is unclear.
- rawgabbit 2y agoAnecdotally, the PGA moved their headquarters to Frisco which is a suburb of Dallas. “The Fields” has 3500 single family homes being developed. The minimum asking price is a $750k and the median is over $2million. https://fieldsfrisco.com/multimillion-dollar-estates-rise-at-massive-fields-development-in-frisco/ https://fieldsfrisco.com/multimillion-dollar-estates-rise-at...
- cudgy 2y agoPGA headquarters are in Florida not Frisco https://www.pgatour.com/company/about https://www.pgatour.com/company/about
- rawgabbit 2y agoI believe they are two different organizations now. PGA is in Frisco. PGA Tour is in Florida. https://www.linkedin.com/company/pga-of-america https://www.linkedin.com/company/pga-of-america

- wenc 2y agoAlso worth noting that U-Haul customers ≠ general population movement. U-Haul has a lot of seasonal college/temp relocation customers.
- friedtofu 2y agoBorn and raised in Texas...DFW, Austin Houston all make sense. But 23, Tyler?!?! WHAT. Not San Antonio or El Paso or Denton...Tyler? I only know about Tyler because the redneck side of my family are from that area. If there are fellow north tx HN users that see this please tell me I'm not the only one that finds this strange.
