- WarOnPrivacy 2y agoSon #4 hit frequently his head between 18 and 36 mos. After one of those resulting knots began to swell slowly (indicating brain fluid, not blood), I rushed him to our pediatrician. Our family Dr of 10yrs examined #4 for a bit and then started addressing me as sir. Which told me his next call would be to the police if I didn't talk him off the ledge. I did, he didn't and we got #4 into a padded helmet for the next year or so.
- legitster 2y ago> Child abuse pediatrics is a relatively new subspecialty whose practitioners work closely with police officers and social workers to investigate potential cases of intentional harm. These physicians are entrusted with a profound responsibility: deciding whether a child’s symptoms indicate abuse or are due to an unrelated medical issue. Their findings often determine whether parents face criminal charges and whether children are separated from their families. Every time a new specialist profession pops up overnight, and they claim to have the sole responsibility of gatekeeping, that should be a huuuuuge red flag. How is there not a massive conflict of interest for them? There is no protection against false positives that validate their reason for existence. If you proclaim yourself a witch catcher, you are going to start finding witches.
