There is a permanent shortage of talent in US
- giardini 2y agoNo problem, ChatGPT will replace 'em all. And if it doesn't, we'll threaten to unplug it!8-)
- jqpabc123 2y agoThere is a permanent shortage of underpaid, overworked talent in the USA. Less than a third of US STEM graduates are actually employed in STEM. Most STEM careers in the USA end at middle age. Does this sound like a "shortage"? https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2021/06/does-majoring-in-stem-lead-to-stem-job-after-graduation.html https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2021/06/does-majoring... https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/W/bo206855230.html https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/W/bo206855...
- ZuckMusk 2y agoCan you summarize the key points made in the book ?
- jqpabc123 2y agoThe key point is that for most graduates in the USA, STEM is *not* a lifelong career. Any "shortage" is due to the fact that most STEM workers are being discarded by middle age. For most, the longevity of their STEM career is only slightly better than professional baseball --- with much longer hours and much less pay.
