"Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water"
You do what you were enjoying before, just now you don't need to get paid in money for it. May be you will get paid in fame, noble prize, smiles of people whose life you impact etc. The money you have can't buy those directly but only when you put effort.

- iterance 2y agoA bit funny to quote "chop wood, carry water." In this context "enlightenment" must be taken to mean "earning a shitload of money."
- attentionmech 2y agoThe author got "enburdened with a shitload of money"
- simondanerd 2y agoI would hate to have that problem. Probably, maybe, actually it would drive me crazy and bored. But I could find ways to use it.
- attentionmech 2y agoA problem is only a problem if you don't want it.
- relaxing 2y agoThe enlightenment is that money doesn’t buy happiness.
- attentionmech 2y agoIt's commutative. Happiness also doesn't buy money.
