Kathy Clugston elevated the Shipping Forecast to poetry
- fallinditch 2y agoBest listened to at night in bed as you drop off to sleep. The roll call of BBC Radio presenters with superb delivery is a long one, but Kathy Clugston stands out as the one who more than any other elevated the Shipping Forecast to a form of poetry through her soothing delivery. She described it as "like a lullaby". The Shipping Forecast, originally a practical tool for sailors, has become a beloved British cultural icon, evoking imagery of the sea and reflecting national identity.
