I expect Tesla sales to continue to fall:
- The CyberTruck hasn't been well-received. It's the butt of many jokes and there's numerous YouTube videos detailing the abysmal build quality. As per usual, most of the trucks are just fine - it's the bad apples that spoil the bunch. And there are a lot of bad apples.
- Elon has been ruffling a lot of feathers. Consider a top-selling accessory for a Tesla is the bumper sticker "I bought this before Elon went crazy." It's a simple fact that Musk's image and Tesla's corporate image are intertwined - Musk is the public face of Tesla, and Musk's popularity is tanking right now. I would expect for that to translate into tanking sales for Tesla.
- Unfortunately for Tesla, as the above two points are unfolding, more non-Tesla EV options are available. Tesla's competitors have also learned proper battery management, which used to be an area where Tesla was head-and-shoulders above the rest. Musk's recent antics may also be reminding people to not get too comfortable with Tesla's supercharging network. We'll see about that one.
As with any market, the more market participants there are the fewer sales the initial market movers will have, but the CyberTruck and Elon Musk are exacerbating that issue for Tesla. I'm expecting Q1 to be brutal for Tesla.
