It remains incredible to me that none of Tesla's investors have pulled Musk aside for an intervention to remind him that, as CEO, he is absolutely torching the company's goodwill, and along with it the company's future.
Tesla's stock is priced as if it's going to grow until it consumes all car sales.
Meanwhile, its market share has peaked[1]. Rather than reflect on this and take corrective action, Musk seems to just be snorting more drugs and wading deeper into politics that are abhorrent to his primary customer base.

- delichon 2y agoIf you think the stock is overpriced that's a great investment opportunity for you. I think much of the rise is due to the insanely great economics of the Cybercab along side the success of FSD 13, and the ramp up of Optimus. The stock is still probably overheated, but I'm not planning to short that. After going all-in on Trump is there much downside left to continuing on that path? Is there somebody left that doesn't know about Musk's politics?
- mullingitover 2y ago> If you think the stock is overpriced that's a great investment opportunity for you. As the saying goes, the market can remain irrational longer than I can remain solvent, so I don't gamble on short selling. None of the dog and pony show stuff is going to lead to Tesla becoming a company that the stock price values it at, but it remains to be seen exactly when this submarine is going to implode and send its billionaire and rube passengers to the sea floor. Probably sometime in the next four years, as republicans have a near-perfect track record of wrecking the economy. I don't think Germans knew Musk would go mask-off neo-nazi, and that hasn't been priced into Tesla's sales yet, so yes I think it is possible for his reputation to do more brand damage.
- pseudony 2y agoI think so. I am a European, and a Tesla owner. I don't think it's my right to tell Americans how to settle domestic affairs or run their elections. However, my incentive to buy another Tesla also reduced when the figurehead of said company interferes in politics without neither citizenship or residency. That he endorses a very problematic movement just makes it worse. With this behavior, he is doing free promotion for Volkswagen Group and Chinese cars.
- Zigurd 2y agoElon has infinite creativity. If I was in charge of brand destruction I doubt I could have come up with "Let's stan the AfD." The sure bet is he will find something even worse.
- rsynnott 2y agoThe markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent. Like, Tesla is clearly _comically_ overpriced, but shorting it would not be particularly safe (and I assume is now very expensive).
