Aside from the hype and grift, I fail to see the connection between AI and blockchain. I understand the value proposition of both technologies and appreciate them within their own contexts. However as a combination, all I see is short term hype driving speculative cryptocurrency valuations.
There's another group using a "user owned AI" scheme to promote their own L1. Nothing about it makes sense. They're not instructing users to run their own models. They don't even offer a model. Just vague hand waving and buzzword salad.

- palmfacehn 2y agoPlease elaborate.
- toomuchtodo 2y agoWest coast VCs and technocrats are seeking autonomy and control vs being subjected to nation state regulation and regulators with authority over traditional finance. East coast will remain the center of traditional finance (NYC but Miami is growing into this), hence the chase of blockchain and crypto. If you can’t beat them, you build your own. Very similar to how StarLink terms state Mars will be self governing when Elon gets there, and how he uses his wealth today to control and project power. Once you have enough wealth, all that’s left to chase and hoard is power and status.
- wslh 2y agoI agree. AI is the kind of trend that can be used to push many others like crypto. I think A16Z has the kind of influence which can attract initial investors and speculators. They are well invested in Solana, most probably they see a lot of leverage removing an infrastructure to get a new one and receive the native fees from users.
