I consider an unpredictable failure like this a horror story considering the median price of these cars is north of 50k and this car is likely under a year old. I have one of these shitty cars too and I can't explain why I bought it other than it doesn't use gas. It has a terrible 40k warranty that has expired for me in about 1.5 years where the Kia i own has 75k left on its warranty after half as much driving. I was well aware of how to reboot the Tesla as I've had to do it numerous times in the past 3 years. One time, the screen didn't come back on for 3 tries. Imagine making car payments on a 2 ton brick in your driveway...
This reminds me of the old meme about if cars were like computers: https://lowendmac.com/2002/if-cars-were-like-operating-systems/ https://lowendmac.com/2002/if-cars-were-like-operating-syste... Tesla has now done this, but somehow we're more than okay with the downgrade in functionality now, 20+ years later.
What changed? Do we think our money is worth less so it's okay if the products aren't as good. Is this like the shrinkflation version of enshitification? Or just plain enshitification?
