It's not mechanical switches, but I wish the fancy keyboard folks would get more interested in high quality scissor switches. Apple's A1243, the classic wired external keyboard, is nearly perfect for me. I finally gave up on mechanical keyboards and bought a few new-old-stock Apple keyboards to last me for the next decade or more. The unique thing about Apple keyboards is the very low profile keycaps and a tiny 0.9mm travel. Matias makes some very nice scissor keyboards but their 2.0mm travel feels different. Also they don't register quite as accurately, I have a lot of miskeys on them.
