IOS 6 beta 3 now available.
- Zenst 14y agoNice but as a rule of thumb I only install beta's when they hit version 9, especialy in the case of IOS 6. Unless you have dedicated development hardware to play with this, then ask yourself - how much am I getting paid to test this and is it worth it. Your choice, use it wisely.
- 10dpd 14y agoGo read 'Crossing the chasm' - many people on HN are early adopters that love the opportunity to try out cutting edge software.
- pooriaazimi 14y agoSurprisingly, iOS 6 betas are extremely stable. Only 2 iPad apps (Instapaper & Air Video) out of hundreds of apps I have would crash with Beta 1 & 2 (and Marco issues an update to fix it). When I installed iOS 5 beta 1, literally no third party app that used NSTableView would run.
- rjsamson 14y agoYeah - I'm using iOS 6 daily and have had very few issues, especially from beta 2 on. Very stable.
- Zenst 14y agoBut you have still had issues. As I said if your choice, I was not advicating not, just saying personaly as a rule of thumb and not a clear cut don't.
- eddieroger 14y agoExcept for the nasty wifi bug that was in beta 1. Where wifi basically wouldn't work on certain routers. Nasty one, that.
- falling 14y agoYou are not testing it to help Apple, you are testing it to check they didn’t break your apps. If your apps break because of a bug in iOS 6 and you didn’t test them, you will only have yourself to blame when your customers leave 1-star reviews.
- taligent 14y agoWhy is iOS 6 so special ? It has for me anyway been the most stable and trouble free beta iOS release to date. Which you would expect as this is more of an iPhone 5 / developer API release.
- pfraze 14y agoAre the changes published? If not, could somebody who's trying it let us in on what's new?
- ck2 14y agoDoes ios6 finally have file upload in the browser? Can anyone confirm firsthand?
- g0atbutt 14y agoYes it does. You can upload from your photo album.
- sondh 14y agoI can confirm that the file upload works since beta 1. However, if you choose to take a photo (instead of selecting an existing one), the photo orientation may not work correctly. Tested with an iPad 2, beta 1 and beta 2. Will update my reply after testing with beta 3.
- ck2 14y agoAre you saying when you take a live photo for the upload, it doesn't embed exif data with the orientation? Strange. Does it not send it as a jpeg?
