I'm currently in the process of moving away from friends. It's definitely not something I want to do, but I don't have much of a choice due to the lack of tech jobs in the area, the increasingly oppressive culture & laws of a deep red state, and the lack of amenities. I suspect that the focus should be on making it easier for people to choose to live near friends. Not sure how that would work though.
