I ditched putty a long time ago. Conemu is better than putty these days (latest Windows 10 or Windows 11 if you’re unlucky enough). I don’t like the “feel” of the new Windows Terminal “app” but it is more “modern” and “capable” (running a newer conhost under the hood). But if you’re willing to use non-standard software then WezTerm, Alacritty, and Kitty (WSL with an XServer) are all good options.
