- Mistletoe 2y agoGold, Bitcoin, creating a fallout shelter, learning to garden, hunt, and fish.
- orionblastar 2y agoBuy DIY books and learn to grow a garden to eat food and a garage to build things with. They are good hobbies and will help you should the economy crash in The Great Collapse.
- muzani 2y agoAI/LLM. Same patterns. First they ignore it, then they laugh at it, then they fight it, then they call it bad for the environment.
- lee-rhapsody 2y agoSo, what exactly should we be doing in regards to AI/LLMs? Investing in those companies? Working in the field?
- muzani 2y agoPlay with it. The people who play computer games learned input/output. The people building biodata websites learned how servers and ftp worked. Play with it enough to know what tokens are, why LLMs are bad with calculation math but good at reasoning math, what vector DBs are, etc. It's like a language, it improves with immersion. At the current rate, the people using AI for roleplay are going to be the experts in 3 years. There's also going to be the crowd that try to slap a LLM on everything, and engineers should be literate enough to explain why it is or is not a solution, instead of defensively screaming 'hype' or 'stochastic parrot'.
