As a software developer that works in Rust as well I applaud any effort to unify dependecies where possible — if you took one of my projects however and you went all like yolo and changed my chosen dependencies in a major distro I would get all the heat for a choice I didn't make. This means if you change my chosen dependencies you are responsible to ensure testing exists. Unless debian packagers provide the tests to avoid logic errors
