I personally this is weird, and kinda lame? If for employees only, why price it so high? They could have make it free for employees while selling it to the publ

  Yes this is a very tacky corporate idea. The Lego set is neat but the idea of selling it to your employees is lame. They should have offered an employee edition that was subsidized for its cost by a bonus. Then employees could choose to buy it or just take the bonus. Because I like Lego but not everyone does. This would also give them a numbered stamped employee edition set. They could also sell the set to the general public that is not one of these special edition sets. This would allow employees to turn around and potentially sell it for a profit. A greedy company would never want that.
