- darepublic 2y agoIs there any precedent for a killing like this in (I assume American) college football?
- idrios 2y agoNot yet but there's a precedent for incredibly perverse incentives caused by sports gambling -- most iconically the White Sox throwing the world series in 1919. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sox_Scandal https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sox_Scandal
- recursivedoubts 2y agonot yet, i am predicting it will happen
- Geeflow 2y agoNot in American college football, but in German pro soccer, someone shorted the stock of a team and subsequently tried to blow up the team with multiple bombs: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borussia_Dortmund_team_bus_bombing https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borussia_Dortmund_team_bus_b...
- hattmall 2y agoIt would make a lot more sense to preemptively kill them to influence the spread.
- recursivedoubts 2y agoit would probably make the most sense to threaten them to throw the game vs. the spread or pay them that will happen for sure, if it already hasn't
