Elon will sooner or later be set aside / dismissed / etc, as all of Trump's prior close allies were.
Trump in this sense reminds me of other historical dictators. They also had high turn over rates in senior staff; insecurity in the dictator, their staff having seen them fail and so no longer being tolerable as they now lack a sense of awe, and said staff also to the extent they are competent coming into disagreement with dictator.
- bediger4000 2y agoI hear this all the time, and there is something to it - huge turnover in a lot of his first cabinet. But Roger Stone, Steven Miller and Boris Epshteyn have been around Trump for a long time. Trump put a lot of stock in Jared Kushner. Ben Carson, Wilbur Ross, Sonny Perdue made it through his entire first term at cabinet level.
- bdangubic 2y agothere is a certain type of person that can survive being around Trump for a long time - Stone/Miller/… fit that mold.

It was quite the show watching coworkers who didn't understand a simple rule when dealing with narcissist: Never ever show them reality or it's your head. When a coworker discovered an accountant was stealing money he went straight to the boss with his findings. His reward? The boss accused him of making it up and fired him in front of everyone. The accountant was quietly replaced sometime later.
