The UN Group of Experts on the DRC has revealed that gold mined in the country is illegally routed through Rwanda and Uganda before being exported. I completely believe this. Doing the bare minimum for plausible deniability seems exactly like what a powerful corporation would do. Instead, Apple should be using its resources, connections, and influence to help bring security to the region, instead of leaving the poorest to fend for themselves in the face of armed groups.
