House passes bill to avert shutdown hours ahead of deadline

- bediger4000 2y agoAn uninformative article. To bother with reading it, you have to be interested in politics. But there's no voting totals, so we don't know if this is one of those "Speaker Johnson relied on the Democratic minority to pass his bill for him" time. I write at 4:41pm MST. The article is marked "breaking news" and supposedly will get updated, but that was at 4:03pm MST.

- tssva 2y agoThe article has the vote total now. No idea when it was updated. To those interested in politics and this story in particular it should be obvious that the bill only passed with Democrat support. Since the bill didn’t go through the normal legislative process it required 2/3rd in favor to pass which can not be achieved without support of the Democrats. This has been widely reported over the last few days as this drama has played out.
- bediger4000 2y agoThank you, that's great, the article finally mentions important details like Speaker Johnson staying in close touch with President Trump and Musk. Good to know that such an important breaking news article finally got its past due update, a long time after it was posted here on HN!
