On a tangential topic, I'm surprised Waymo don't self-insure. Is there an advantage to Waymo of outsourcing insurance? Is it a legal thing?
- chippiewill 2y agoIt's easier to budget for an insurance policy than an insurance claim. Clearly Waymo can afford to self insure, but its difficult to accou t for the underspend and overspend depending on accident rate. Insurance companies have the advantage of amortization over a much larger number of policies. Even insurance companies will have their own insurance.
