So, it should be free to get a cancer diagnosis so at least you know what's killing you even though you can't afford to do anything about it. Sounds great.

- amazingamazing 2y agoThat’s why you purchase insurance, no?
- erellsworth 2y agoIf you can afford it. If you can't, you are left with your cancer diagnosis and nothing you can do about it but wait around to die.
- amazingamazing 2y agoThat would always be true, sadly. For example, the same could be said about water. In any case the extremely poor already have free insurance in the form of Medicaid so not relevant.
- rickydroll 2y agoIt appears you've never lived with Medicaid. Medicaid makes it clear that the poor don't deserve as much or as good a quality of medical peer as someone well-off.
- erellsworth 2y agoYes, I'm one of those radicals that think water is a human right. Also under the "Medical care should be pay for yourself or purchase private insurance" policy Medicaid would not exist because it is neither of those.
- amazingamazing 2y agoYup. Medicaid isn’t great. Better to pay poor people to have private insurance. Just my own experience though.
- erellsworth 2y agoThat's not far off from what Medicaid does. It doesn't pay poor people to buy private insurance, but it does it for them. Medicaid is private insurance paid for with government dollars.
