Why should anyone care about your opinion, though? If you didn’t want to be here anymore, that wouldn’t be any of my business. I’d hope you were offered various forms of support and at least asked to consider alternatives, but c’mon—none of us asked to be here.
We need to fucking grow up about this shit. It is especially exhausting to see ostensibly intelligent people with such narrow-minded views recklessly imposing their sanctimony on people they've never met or attempted to know.

- emptiestplace 2y agoI suspect you're confused about the beginning of what I wrote. I am not referring to the value of sharing your opinion here, I am saying that we need to stop having opinions on others' ability to endure being here, period. When we allow ourselves this sort of self-righteous indignation, we perpetuate the normalization of restrictions to the autonomy of adults in society. While existence can be meaningful and valuable, it may not be so for everyone - for any number of reasons - and that's perfectly valid. Though it may be painful to consider that our loved ones might decide they've had enough, any opinion we hold on their choice is inherently self-serving.
