Adaptive lighting isn't the best solution either. Here in the Netherlands there are lots of complaints from people on bicycles who get blinded by "adaptive" lights that don't adapt, or don't do so quickly enough, probably because they dont recognise the "profile" or shape of a bicycle. The problem is even worse when coming over a hill.
