- jfengel 2y agoThe article doesn't say, but I wonder if this suit is being backed by a "detransitioning" organization. A number of groups recruit people who are still unhappy after their transition, and promote them heavily. The fact that there are so few of these lawsuits implies that there just aren't that many such people. The plaintiff claims that they were prescribed drugs without any examination. If so, it should be easy to demonstrate from the records. It would be deeply unfortunate if such a prominent doctor had screwed up this case, and presumably there would be more such examples to follow. And if not, that too should be obvious from the patient records. Unfortunately, that would not prevent the anti-trans organizations to keep seeking out any single individual harmed by their transition in the hopes of destroying the possibility of a procedure that has helped a great number of people who are very happy and healthy post-transition.
- duicio 2y agoThese procedures are being inflicted upon children. It's very different to an adult with full capacity to consent. Hopefully this lawsuit will be the beginning of the end for this harmful medical experimentation on vulnerable kids.
- jfengel 2y agoThis is not a harmful medical procedure when administered to people who need it, of whom there are millions. For them, it is literally a life saver.
- duicio 2y agoHalting a child's puberty isn't a life-saving procedure, more likely it will cause them permanent and life-long damage due to developmental deficits. There aren't millions of kids having this done to them, it's more like tens of thousands. But it's still too many, too much harm for no good reason.
