How a young Dutch woman's life began when she was allowed to die
- hoppp 2y agoI am for euthanasia if a patient has incurable mental or physical sickness and actively suffering, but in this case I think she just had nothing else to do other than embrace her ptsd and live in hell. Put her in a situation where she is in the wild nature alone and needs to work to survive and the whole thing is solved. When Im depressed, I go camping. I have to carry water, food , find shelter and make a fire.I got no time for depression or dwelling on the past, else I get wet.
- emptiestplace 2y agoWhy should anyone care about your opinion, though? If you didn’t want to be here anymore, that wouldn’t be any of my business. I’d hope you were offered various forms of support and at least asked to consider alternatives, but c’mon—none of us asked to be here. We need to fucking grow up about this shit. It is especially exhausting to see ostensibly intelligent people with such narrow-minded views recklessly imposing their sanctimony on people they've never met or attempted to know. Your comment is arrogant, dismissive, and condescending. You lack perspective.
- hoppp 2y agoWell, your comment is just aggressive and doesn't provide any constructive feedback. Why should anyone care about aggressive comments?
- emptiestplace 2y agoI suspect you're confused about the beginning of what I wrote. I am not referring to the value of sharing your opinion here, I am saying that we need to stop having opinions on others' ability to endure being here, period. When we allow ourselves this sort of self-righteous indignation, we perpetuate the normalization of restrictions to the autonomy of adults in society. While existence can be meaningful and valuable, it may not be so for everyone - for any number of reasons - and that's perfectly valid. Though it may be painful to consider that our loved ones might decide they've had enough, any opinion we hold on their choice is inherently self-serving.
