Hi HN,
I created a Bash script to audit VPS/server setups, helping identify security risks and performance issues. It’s lightweight, uses standard Linux tools (no external dependencies), and is free and open source.
Features and Checks
Security Audits:
•SSH configuration (root login, password auth, non-default ports)
•Firewall status
•Fail2ban setup
•Failed login attempts tracking
•Unattended upgrades setup
•Password policies
•SUID files
•Sudo logging
•Open ports and running services
Performance Metrics:
•Disk, memory, and CPU usage (detailed with percentages and raw values)
•System uptime
•Pending updates and restart requirements
Key Features:
•Color-coded results (Pass/Warn/Fail)
•Generates detailed reports (saved as text files)
•Provides actionable recommendations for failed checks
Why I Built This
I was tired of manually performing the same checks while managing VPS instances, so I automated it. I hope others managing servers find it useful too!
