Ask HN: Teach Programming to Kids?
With claims that AI might take over programming jobs in the near future, is it still a good idea to teach kids coding? How many parents here would want their children to learn programming? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!
- toomuchtodo 2y agoGive them opportunity to explore with an environment, but don’t push it on them.
- riyakhanna1983 2y agoThat makes sense. I’m mostly curious to know if parents are actively encouraging their kids to develop programming skills.
- toomuchtodo 2y agoI teach my children that code is one of many ways to solve problems, and then I supervise them while they talk to ChatGPT and other LLMs to ask it how to write code to solve the problems that they are attempting to solve.
