That is why whenever I mentor younger developers my primary objective is for them to understand how much they lose if they use tools like Supermaven / Cursor / Copilot.
Instead I ask them to use chatGPT or something to ask questions there, understand it, but then type the code themselves in the editor.
- numpad0 2y agoIMO current AIs are great gateway drugs. They provide "someone is wrong on the Internet" effect for every types and modes of content they are told to generate, from text to code to images.
